/Jewelry PR News/ - TERRELL, TX, March 16, 2006 - The award-winning designer, artist and jeweler, Calvin Begay, has a unique talent that helps him translate traditional Navajo inlay techniques into contemporary jewelry with a modern flair. His work has become highly prized by astute collectors throughout the Americas.
Reared in Tohatchi, New Mexico, he designed his first piece of jewelry at the age of 10. He learned well from mother and his uncle until now he has become a master in every aspect of design and manufacturing. He has won numerous awards at the Gallup Inter Tribal Ceremonial. One of his designs was selected Best of Show in 1989. His work has been featured in Arizona Highway and Southwestern Art Magazines.
Continually updating his skills he has demonstrated an abundance of native creativity. He works in both gold and silver with both traditional and new look stones. New motifs are added from time to time. He finds expression for his free spirit in his work with precious metals and stones.
In his leisure time, Calvin participates in rodeo and also rides the back country in an all-terrain vehicle. He gives every indication that he is a man wholly at peace with himself which allows him to unleash his creativity in unforgettable pieces of wearable art.
